The Wedding: Marisa and Wesley, New Castle, Delaware
Tuesday, February 03 2009 - 3 comments
Marisa and Wesley were married this past Saturday in New Castle, Delaware. Shortly after Marisa and I met, I discovered that she was a fellow Hello Kitty fan. At that moment, I knew that I would have a blast shooting their wedding because I’ve never met someone who loved Hello Kitty but didn’t know how to have a good time. And I was right! Marisa and Wesley had a beautiful intimate wedding in front of family and friends before enjoying their party. Congratulations and happiness forever to you both! Winterthur Wedding: Miranda and Chip
Sunday, October 12 2008 - 2 comments
A week ago today, Miranda and Chip were married outside of The Galleries of Winterthur Museum and Country Estate in Wilmington, Delaware. This was truly a unique wedding and reception because Miranda pulled it all together using vendors from Fox Island, Washington all the way to Lexington, South Carolina. Vendors that played a part in the celebration included: Floral Design: Laura Graff – New York, New York Table Runners: Hand woven by Amy Hoseck in Minneapolis, Minnesota from organic cotton and metallic yarns. Birds Nests: Tiny nests were hand made by Leanne Pendleton of Canton, OH. Leanne is a fiber artist specializing in minuscule needle felted birds. Wren Eggs: The speckled wren eggs in Leanne’s nests were hand painted by Melinda Cunningham in Lexington, South Carolina. Grapevine Bird Nests: Crafted by Scott Rohrdranz of Happy Quails to You in Sharon, Pennsylvania. Search “Happy-quils-to-you” on Ebay.com Pressed Autumn Leaves: These were scattered around the tables and sealed the invitations and came from Rachel Detwiler’s backyard in Fox Island, Washington Miranda and Chip, Thank you so much for including me in your celebration! Miranda, your attention to detail is amazing and I love how you used artisans to pull together your special day! I wish you all the love and happiness in the world and hope to see your art one day in New York. Take care, Favorite images from Miranda and Chip’s celebration…Ali and Jon-Carlhaven Emu Farm, Westminster, Maryland

On Saturday, Ali and Jon were married at Ali’s family’s home, the Carlhaven Emu Farm . The weather was perfect – beautiful sunshine, not too cold, not too hot, great picture taking weather! When Ali, Jon, and I met back in August to discuss their wedding plans, Ali shared that she had a pretty incredible vision for her wedding day. She wanted to recreate the atmosphere of a super cool coffee house/bistro outside under a tent. I remember thinking that there was no way I could pull something like that off, but something told me that Ali had an eye for that sort of thing. Driving up the lane to the Farm, I spotted a huge tent and knew that her vision had come to life. I later learned that Ali’s brother-in-law, Graham, who is the Creative Director of Fandango Productions in Baltimore , helped bring it all together. Several amazing details were provided by his company, including the tent, lighting (super cool street lamps!), dance floor, and ceremony seating. If you have any event planning needs, make sure to check them out. This was the scene when I first arrived! Meet the Bride, Ali, and her Mom, Diane. Yes, Ali is putting together floral arrangements on her wedding day! How amazing is that?! I tried to give a hand with a few of the arrangements, but my skills were seriously lacking as compared to Ali’s. Later I had the opportunity to get the Groomsmen together for a few fun, relaxed portraits. Jon, Karl, Neal, Jason, Jermaine, and Bobby were so much fun to work with – very easy going guys and totally funny. Meanwhile, Ali was getting ready with her sister, Heather, who was her Matron of Honor. Look at the amazing detail on this dress! Can you believe Ali made it? Adding a flower to Ali’s hear was the perfect final touch! For the first look, Ali and Jon met in front of the house – Jon was so excited to see his Bride! He almost saw her getting ready a few times earlier, but everyone made sure to keep Ali out of view. I love how excited he looks! After the first look, we had the chance to spend a lot of time together taking fun, relaxed portraits. Because Ali’s front yard is absolutely beautiful we had the perfect backdrop for photographs. I love that Ali and Jon allowed for so much time for pictures – it gave us the opportunity to get some great shots, without feeling rushed, and also gave them time to spend some alone time together before the day really got crazy busy! Well, mostly alone, a few groomsmen took some pics at the same time which was totally funny. Totally different perspective here, I just loved how blue the sky was! Seeing as it is an Emu farm, we had to drop by the Emu pen for a quick visit! Meet Luke, the cutest Ring Bearer ever! Portraits with the girls were just as fun! Heather, Alyssa, Cassandra, Christina, and Katherine were willing to try just about anything. I loved the blue wraps that Ali gave them as Bridesmaids gifts! Around this time, the air was getting a bit chillier so they really came in handy! My favorite – this resulted after I asked them to show me their best “sexy face”! Just another one of the amazing details, candles hanging in the tree! The reception totally rocked! It was a dessert reception with stations of different homemade desserts setup under the tent. A few more details…One image I want to specifically point out is the reception layout – that was made by Ali (and I think a few Bridesmaids might have helped), and was a complete, to scale layout of the reception tent. It even included every seating area as well as the dance floor with little stick people dancing! Love this picture from the cake cutting! Notice Ali and Jon’s little audience? Ali and Jon, Thank you so much for the opportunity to document your day! From the moment I arrived, I felt completely welcome – thank you so much for that. I loved spending time with you and your family and getting the chance to get to know you better. I wish you all the love and happiness in the world!Winterthur Wedding: Miranda and Chip are getting married today!

Another sunny fall day! Miranda and Chip are getting married tonight at Winterthur . You might remember my post back in August when I went to do some shooting at Winterthur – the grounds are just gorgeous. Miranda and I haven’t actually met in person yet, we’ve “talked” frequently through e-mails, so I’m really excited to me her and Chip! Miranda is an artist who does some amazing work in New York – check out her site . This morning I’m importing and backing up photos from Ali and Jon’s Wedding yesterday. I had an absolutely wonderful time and can’t wait to post images later this week!Carlhaven Emu Farm: Ali and Jon are getting married today!

It’s 10 AM on Saturday morning and I’m enjoying my Pumpkin Spice flavored coffee on the couch with my two cats and hubby sitting next to me. In about a half hour, I’m going to start getting ready because I’m shooting Ali and Jon’s Wedding today in Westminster, Maryland. They’re getting married at the Carlhaven Emu Farm which raises “free-ranged, all natural emus for heart healthy red meat, emu oil skin care products, fresh eggs, eggshells for crafting, custom emu leather items, and unique feathers”. I’ve never actually tried Emu meat before but now I’m curious about it! My new bag is packed and my directions are printed – I can’t wait to document their day!Brandywine Creek State Park: Alison and Jeremey: the Slideshow

Enjoy!Brandywine Creek State Park: Alison and Jeremey: the Pictures
Monday, September 01 2008 - 1 comments
Over one hundred years ago, the beautiful rolling hills of Brandywine Creek State Park were home to wildflowers, songbirds, deer, and cows. Gray stone walls, which were built in the late 1800s, divide the Park's 933 acres. Originally a dairy farm, the Park was once owned by the du Pont family and later became a state park in 1965. Brandywine Creek State Park became one of the first parks in the nation to be purchased with Land and Water Conservation Funds. 190-year-old tulip poplar trees surrounded the amphitheater where Alison and Jeremey exchanged their vows in front of family and friends. The sun, which had been hidden behind cloudy skies for days, finally broke through with glorious sunshine just in time for their ceremony. We had a bit of excitement when the Park staff informed us that there was a 500 plus pound Bull on the loose - evidently it escaped from an event some two weeks before - but there weren't any sightings during pictures after the ceremony. That was probably just as well, seeing as the Bridesmaids had red dresses! And the party afterwards? These guys know how to party! Karaoke was a major highlight and was provided by Echo and Tom of Echoes of Karaoke (302.507.6758) . Alison and Jeremey, Thank you so much for the honor and privilege of documenting your day! From the moment we met, you have always made me feel welcome. I have never met a sweeter couple and the love you two share is so evident! From the way Jeremey looks at you, Alison, to the way Jeremey grins when you make him laugh. I wish you all the love and happiness in the world. And now for the pictures! Check back at the end of the week for the slide show!Brandywine State Park, Wilmington, Delaware: Jeremey and Alison - Sneak Peak
